PUBLICATION PRINCIPLES
SECTION ONE
Purpose, Scope, Content, and Definitions
Definitions:
- Süleyman Demirel University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences refers to the academic journal published by Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
- Owner of the Journal: The Dean of Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
- Editorial Board: Members appointed by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, comprising faculty specializing in *Archaeology, Western Languages and Literature, Geography, Philosophy, Psychology, Art History, Sociology, History, Turkish Language and Literature,* who are distinguished in their fields and contribute to the journal.
- Advisory Board: Department Chairs from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
- Editor: Faculty member(s) assigned by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences to oversee editorial responsibilities.
- Assistant Editors: Faculty members designated by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences specializing in fields such as *Archaeology, Western Languages and Literature, Geography, Philosophy, Psychology, Art History, Sociology, History, Turkish Language and Literature.*
Purpose and Scope:
1. The purpose of this document is to establish the publication principles of the Süleyman Demirel University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (SUITDER).
2. The journal aims to create a shared academic platform for various disciplines within the social sciences, including *Anthropology, Archaeology, Western Languages and Literatures, Geography, Philosophy, Psychology, Art History, Sociology, History, Turkish Language and Literature.*
3. The journal publishes scientific articles within the aforementioned fields of social sciences.
4. The journal is published biannually, in June and December.
5. It is an international peer-reviewed journal.
Articles submitted to the journal must:
1. Employ suitable research methods and models relevant to the fields of *Anthropology, Archaeology, Western Languages and Literatures, Geography, Philosophy, Psychology, Art History, Sociology, History, Turkish Language and Literature,* and contribute new insights to these areas.
2. Critically evaluate, review, or propose new perspectives on previously published works, demonstrating originality and relevance to the field.
3. Include research, biographies, reviews, or translations of scholarly value, discussing, critiquing, or explaining a concept or theory.
4. Fit into the following categories:
-Research Articles: Original studies presenting scientific innovation, addressing specific topics, challenging previous theses, offering new perspectives, or introducing new documents.
- Review/Evaluation Articles: Critical assessments of existing bibliographies on controversial or ambiguous topics, leading to conclusions.
- Translation Articles: Translations that contribute to the academic field.
5. The journal also accepts critical reviews of publications, which highlight strengths and weaknesses and provide general evaluations.
6. All articles must adhere to the journal’s publication principles and formatting requirements.
SECTION TWO
Evaluation
1. Articles are reviewed by at least two referees. Referees have 5 days to accept or reject the evaluation invitation and a maximum of 10 days to submit their review. If no report is submitted within this timeframe, a new referee is assigned.
2. Articles with two positive referee reports are accepted for publication. If one report is positive and the other is negative, the article is sent to a third referee, whose decision determines its acceptance. Referees may request revisions related to form or content.
3. Authors must closely follow the review and finalization process of their submissions. If revisions are not completed within the given time, the article is returned to the author(s).
4. Authors must consider the referees’ and editorial board’s evaluations and suggestions. Authors may provide written justifications for any disagreements.
5. The Editorial Board makes the final publication decision based on the completion of all requested revisions. The board reserves the right to reject articles that do not align with the journal’s policies, even after the review process.
6. Articles must conform to proper grammar and writing standards. The Editorial Board may request modifications for content and structure.
7. Articles that fail to comply with the journal’s principles and formatting requirements will be returned to the author(s) without entering the review process.
8. Requests to expedite the publication process will not be entertained. Articles are evaluated based on their submission date and published accordingly.
9. No author may publish more than one article in the same issue or within two consecutive issues in the same year.
10. Responsibility for withdrawing articles submitted to the journal for any reason lies solely with the author(s).
SECTION THREE
Rules
1. SDU Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences publishes original and scholarly works in *Anthropology, Archaeology, Western Languages and Literature, Geography, Philosophy, Psychology, Art History, Sociology, History, Turkish Language and Literature,* as outlined in Section One. Articles are accepted between January–April for the June issue and July–October for the December issue. Submissions outside these periods will not be considered.
2. All articles must be submitted via the journal’s DergiPark page (https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/pub/suitder). Communication between authors and editors will occur through DergiPark or the official email address (suitder@sdu.edu.tr). Submissions that fail to meet the ethical and publication standards will be returned to the author(s).
3. Articles (except those derived from theses) must not have been previously published in print or electronic form. Authors must submit a signed declaration of originality.
4. Articles must have a similarity rate of no more than 20%, including references, verified through iThenticate, Turnitin, or intihal.net. Submissions exceeding this rate will be returned without entering the review process.
5. Authors must complete the required declaration forms during the submission process.
6. A double-blind peer review system is implemented. Author details should not appear in the initial manuscript or in any acknowledgments.
7. Author information must be uploaded as separate, signed files during the submission process.
8. Articles requiring ethics committee approval must include documentation, while those not requiring approval must include a declaration stating so.
9. Authors are responsible for the scientific, ethical, and legal aspects of their submissions. Proper attribution for visual materials is required.
10. If accepted, all publication rights are transferred to the journal.
11. Translations undergo the same peer-review process as other submissions and require permission from the original author and the original text.
12. By submitting an article, authors accept full responsibility for ethical compliance and originality, absolving the journal of any liability for violations.
